Stories to Go
Stories to Go are themed bilingual kits to support preparing children entering into the K-12 school system. Each kit includes resources for childcare providers to host high-quality story times for their children, focusing on Every Child Ready to Read 2 early literacy skills of talking, reading, singing, writing and playing every day.
The Stories to Go kits are available for childcare providers to check out at the following locations: Rohnert Park Cotati Regional Library, Roseland Community Library, Sonoma Valley Regional Library, and Windsor Regional Library.
Stories to Go kits provide books and props for daycare providers to present a fun, engaging, educational experience for the children in their care. The kits aim towards creating meaningful early literacy experiences.
The books are geared towards children ages up to age six. Each kit includes:
- 10 books (English, Spanish & bilingual)
- Music CD
- Puppet
- Flannel Story
- Flannel board
- Set of storytime props (shaky eggs or scarves)
- A list of fingerplays, songs, and early literacy tips
The books presented in the kit are themed. The following themes are available for check out for a three-week checkout:

- Families
- Farm Animals
- Friends
- Getting Dressed
- Trains
Daycare facilities are encouraged to contact their local children’s library staff to schedule a visit to their daycare for a story time demonstration with the children.
