Read Together Story Kits
Check Out a Storytime to Share
SCL is excited to announce a new early literacy collection called Read Together Story Kits, or Leemos Juntos Bolsas de Cuentos. These kits are themed storytimes in a bag featuring diverse characters or authors that can be checked out by both early learning providers and families. The project will help parents and teachers to identify and access diverse picture book resources that allow children to see themselves in a story, no matter their culture, race, gender, family makeup, or ability. Find a kit at the Library, or request one online.
Each kit includes several picture books focused on one of these themes:
- Animals
- Colors & Shapes
- Community
- Counting
- Families
- Feelings
- Friendship
- Imagination
- Nature
- School
- Social-emotional
Bilingual kits Spanish-language kits
Read Together
These bilingual themed storytime kits feature diverse characters to allow children to see themselves in a story. Each kit contains five to six books for reading aloud with toddlers and preschoolers, and info sheets containing early literacy tips and storytime songs and rhymes. Both English-language and bilingual English-Spanish books are included in each kit.
Leemos Juntos
Designed to make it easy to find Spanish language picture books that are great to share with young children, these themed storytime kits contain five (5) books for reading aloud with toddlers and preschoolers. The kits also include a tip sheet containing early learning ideas and storytime songs and rhymes.
